It was standing room only on Friday afternoon when the Prime Minister's Chief Science Advisor Sir Peter Gluckman outlined the recently released National Science Challenge at the University of Waikato.More than 200 people attended Sir Peter's talk, where he went over the background of the National Science Challenge to an engaged and enthusiastic audience of academics, researchers and students.Sir Peter says the $133.5 million funding for the project, over four years, was the "biggest hunk of new money to go to science, not innovation, in many years" and offered great opportunities for scientists.
